Awards

The faculty of the Architecture Department annually honors three graduating Master of Architecture students for their exemplary performance.  The awards are medals and certificates from national organizations that wish to honor graduating students nationwide who excel in their respective accredited first professional degree programs.  The recipients of these awards are determined by a nomination process and majority vote of the Architecture Department faculty.  The names of the recipients are announced at the School’s annual graduation ceremony and Honors and Awards Ceremony.  Students enrolled in the Master of Architecture or the Master of Science in Architecture are eligible for the King Student Medal.

The four nationally prestigious awards are:

The Alpha Rho Chi Medal from the National Professional Fraternity for Architecture and the Allied Arts recognizes graduating seniors who excel academically and in service to their respective programs.

The AIA Henry Adams Medal from the American Institute of Architects is awarded to the “top-ranking” graduating student for “general excellence” throughout the course of his or her architectural studies in a first professional degree program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

The King Student Medal from the Architectural Research Centers Consortium is awarded to the student that has demonstrated achievement in research while participating in the Master of Architecture or Master of Science in Architecture degree.
